Justin Henry, owner of Zander Homes, talks about how working with his father in the construction industry planted the seed to start his own home building business.
Tell us about yourself.
I am married husband of 13 years and a father of two young boys. I help coach both of my boys in youth baseball & basketball as well as help teach & volunteer with the youth at my church. I am a second-generation homebuilder from Ohio, I guess you can say I had it in my blood! I graduated from Austin Peay State University where I not only played 4-years of collegiate football, I also served as team captain as well as FCA president. Afterwards, I moved to Houston and began working for national and local homebuilders where I was able to learn from others while being able to transfer that knowledge & work ethic to Zander Homes™.
How did you get started in your business?
My father has always been in the construction industry as far back as I can remember. As a kid growing up, I would work with him at jobsites to help him & make a few extra dollars – I guess this planted the seed. Once I moved to Houston in 2005, I started off working for a national, as well as, local builders before stepping out on my own. While coming out of the recession I took a chance believing in myself and started Zander Homes in 2010. We began with remodeling jobs as well as a few small building projects for clients; then in 2012 we built our first spec home to sell. We have built various townhome communities and now we primarily focus on building custom homes for clients in and around the Houston area. Since then we’ve been blessed to be recognized by our local & state building associations for excellence in the home building industry, as well as being recently named as a part of the Professional Builders 40 under 40 for 2020.
How long have you been in the community and why did you choose this community?
We’ve always wanted to be a part of the Bellaire community and were able to do so back in 2016 with our very first custom home right off of S.Rice, we were so excited and proud! To me, Bellaire has always represented the All-American City; beautiful, diverse, centrally located, showcasing the very best of Houston. We love the community atmosphere from the local eateries to parks and recreation. We are proud to be a part of this great community and hope to be a stable part of keeping Bellaire beautiful, vibrant and enriching for years to come!
What sets your business apart from others like yours?
We are a Customer Centric driven homebuilder who focuses on each one of our customers specific needs and goals for every project.
