As part of the organization’s “For the Health of It” Series, The Health Museum is hosting The Recovery Playbook, The Menninger Clinic’s YouTube series featuring Daryl I. Shorter, MD, medical director for the Menninger Addictions & Recovery Medicine Center, and Ryan Leaf, a former NFL player, the Clinic’s Ambassador in Recovery and a college and professional football analyst. The live recording will be held at The Health Museum on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 6-8 p.m.
Each month, Dr. Shorter and Leaf discuss relevant recovery topics on the minds of individuals, family and friends, and treatment providers alike. They look at what’s new in substance misuse recovery today, sticking points that affect relationships, coping with adversity, and breakthroughs in treatment and policy matters. Their goal is to elevate conversation about real issues of substance use and addictions.
Admission is free to the museum and this event during extended Thursday hours on March 21, 2024 and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to explore The Health Museum’s exhibit Drugs: Costs and Consequences before The Recovery Playbook event. General admission to The Health Museum is $12 for ages 13 and older; $10 for children 3 to 12 years old and seniors 65 and above; free for children two and younger; and free admission for everyone on Thursdays from 2 – 7 p.m. General admission provides access to the Museum’s multiple exhibits. Through the Museums for All program, guests can visit The Health Museum for a minimal fee of $3 per general admission ticket, for up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Museum participates in the Blue Star Museum program, which allows active military members and their families free admission to the Museum. They are also a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC).
