The Great Age Movement will host its 2nd Annual Jazz Luncheon on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Houston. The event will benefit the capital campaign to raise funds to build senior playgrounds and support development of programs in community green spaces.
The Great Age Movement is working with private developers and public organizations to fulfill its mission to build senior playgrounds that promote health, learning and socialization in Houston and surrounding areas. Currently, two senior initiatives are in progress: (1). program development for the only senior playground in Texas in partnership with Texas A&M Agrilife Extension and Galveston County Parks & Recreation – Carbide Park in LaMarque, Texas; and (2). setting the groundwork for first future senior park in America in partnership with Wm Dillard & Associates LP on donated land in the City of Jersey Village.
Honorary Chairs, Dr. Carolyn Farb, hc and Peter Martino and Co-Chairs, Staci Henderson and Barbara Reyna will welcome guests to a jazz-filled luncheon with music by Bubba McNeely Duo. Multi-award winner and local PBS host, Ernie Manouse will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Prominent philanthropists, corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, young professionals, celebrities and media representatives are expected to attend the luncheon.
The Second Annual Jazz Luncheon is a tribute to famed musician Duke Ellington, with his granddaughter Mercedes Ellington, legendary choreographer and dancer as one of the special honorees.
“Exercise is the best medicine for everyone especially seniors. It’s been proven through research on existing senior playgrounds in Europe and Asia. Results support improved health, socialization skills, and renewed purpose for living in senior adults. It’s time for our society to take action. Our organization is determined to lead the efforts with our first two senior initiatives currently underway. Proceeds from our annual fundraiser will continue to help pave the way to meet our mission”, said Fritz McDonald, Founder and President of the Great Age Movement.
The Great Age Movement invites everyone to support and contribute to the vision to provide outdoor community opportunities for seniors by purchasing tickets and tables to the luncheon. Click on link:
