From the City of Bellaire:
On August 19, 2024, the Bellaire City Council unanimously voted to hold a bond election on November 5, 2024. If passed, the additional revenue from the bond will fund the improvements below.
Proposition A – Drainage Facilities and Improvements – $40 Million
- Bellaire’s contribution to the $110 million Cypress Ditch flood mitigation project
- Increases stormwater conveyance capacity
- Facilitates future upstream improvements
- Includes land swap with City of Houston to obtain land for detention
Proposition B – Water and Wastewater Facilities and Improvements – $30 Million
- Decommissions and demolishes Bellaire wastewater treatment plant
- Redirects Bellaire’s wastewater to City of Houston wastewater treatment plant
- Relocates and replaces Bellaire lift station
- Supports Cypress Ditch drainage improvements by repurposing City land up for stormwater detention
