From the City of Bellaire:

We are monitoring Tropical Storm Imelda and are expecting periods of heavy rainfall this evening through Thursday, September 19.  Please monitor the National Weather Service, your local media, and other official weather information sources for current updates.

Solid waste and recycling collection is cancelled for Wednesday, September 18.  This is being done to minimize the likelihood of trash and recyclables from being washed into the storm sewers system which can exacerbate street flooding.  Please do not put your trash and recycle bins out and take them back into your home if you have put the items out already.   These items will be collected on your next scheduled solid waste or recycling collection day.

Here are some tips to remember:

·       Turn Around, Don’t Drown – Isolated underpasses or low-water crossings may be life-threatening

·       Park your vehicles in the driveway or garage, keep them off the street

·       Pull in your garbage cans and recycling bins

·       Collect loose leaves, grass clippings and limbs to keep them out of the storm sewers

·       Please do not create a wake with your vehicle when driving down a flooded street

Stay Safe!
