The City of Bellaire Public Works Department and the Bellaire Environmental Sustainability Board, in partnership with Zero Waste Houston, are excited to announce an eight-week Food Waste Drop-Off Outreach Program that will help residents turn food scraps and organic materials into compost.
The program will run from March 2 to April 20, every SUNDAY from Noon – 3:00PM, offering residents a convenient way to reduce waste and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Residents can drop off food scraps and other organic materials at our temporary drop off/educational area which will be in the Condit Elementary parking lot opposite City Hall on South Rice. Accepted items include:
• Food scraps (vegetable peels, fruit cores, coffee grounds, moldy food, etc.)
• Meat, bones, seafood, and shells
• Compostable cups and utensils
• Paper napkins, towels, and cut flowers

All collected items will be transformed into nutrient-rich compost.
