The Friends of the Bellaire Library is pleased to announce the Spring Book Sale – our very first “FIRE SALE” – to be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bellaire Fire Station, 5101 Jessamine in Bellaire. You can enjoy browsing through books inside the designated fire station bays while being protected from the elements, such as sun or rain!
Held twice each year, the book sales are the major fundraisers for the Friends and proceeds benefit the City of Bellaire’s Library. “Proceeds from the book sales allow us to support the Library’s Summer Reading Program and other community activities. It’s so exciting to partner with the Fire Department this year – this allows us to have an “indoor” outdoor sale!” says President of the FOTBL and Bellaire resident, Andréa Ehlers.
How much are books? Adult Hardback Books are $2 & Adult Paperback Books are $1.00. Children’s Hardback books are $1, while Children’s Paperback books are $0.50 each. Adult and Children’s book sets range from $2-$5. We have received a really great selection of books due to the increase in reading at home during the pandemic, so you are sure to find something you love!
Mary Alford Cohrs, Library Director, is delighted that students in the National Honor Society of Bellaire High School volunteer to help set up in the morning and return in the afternoon to help clean up and prepare for the next sale. “National Honor students have done this for over 20 years and they have made a huge difference in helping the sale go smoothly.” she says.
Parking is available in the Library’s parking lot as well as across the street from the Fire Station at the City’s Parking lot. Parking is also available along South Rice in designated parking areas.
Come join us at our FIRE SALE where browsing for books is cool and the prices are hot! Neither rain nor sun will stop you from shopping for great books!
