Dear Bellaire Neighbors and Friends:
I am a native Houstonian who has lived in Bellaire since 2012 and served on Bellaire city boards since 2021. It would be an honor to earn your vote in my run for Position 4 on the Bellaire City Council in the Nov. 7 election.
My husband Matt and I (and our foxhound Frankie) live in the Southdale section of the city and have two daughters (ages 21 and 25) who live and work in New York City. A graduate of Robert E. Lee (now Wisdom) High School and Emerson College, I enjoyed a successful career in radio sales, including 10 years as a sales manager for Houston and Los Angeles radio stations. Two generations of Bellaire and Houston parents (and children) know me as the owner and COO of JumpBunch, a sports and fitness program for preschools and elementary schools. For 19 years (2003-2022), JumpBunch and I were mainstays in the educational landscape of our community. Today I leverage my expertise as a consultant for Youth Athletes United (YAU) and small business owners launching their YAU franchises nationwide. In my free time, I am an avid runner, mountain hiker, loyal “Swiftie,” and dog-lover.
Why am I running for Bellaire City Council Position #4?
I am not a lawyer, engineer or builder, and I have nothing to gain professionally or financially from serving on council; I just love Bellaire and love serving the community. I have over 32 years of sales experience, including 20 years as a successful entrepreneur. I can confidently say that I am a Premier Solution Provider. I would love to bring my consensus-building and problem solving skills to the council to help bring important issues to resolution for the benefit of Bellaire citizens.
What experience do I have with the City of Bellaire?
- Parks and Recreation Board Member, 2021-present
- Vice-Chair, Parks and Recreation Board, 2022-present
- Bellaire Citizens’ Academy Graduate, 2022
- Patrons for Bellaire Parks, 2023-
- City of Bellaire Ambassador
- Chair, Bellaire Planting Palooza
- Chair, Bellaire Trolley Run Committee
I have been an active contributor to the welfare of Bellaire and its residents since 2021 when I was chosen for the Parks and Recreation Board. In 2022, I was elevated to Vice Chair of the Parks Board (a role I still currently hold) and graduated from the Bellaire Citizen’s Academy. I was recently selected to serve as a voting board member of the Patrons for Bellaire Parks and a City of Bellaire Ambassador. I am a passionate advocate for accessibility and for protecting and enhancing our green spaces. I led the successful effort to make the Officer Lucy Dog Park accessible and helped to secure City Council approval of a plan for improving accessibility of all Bellaire city parks. In 2023, I served as chair of the Bellaire Planting Palooza and currently chair the committee for the Bellaire Trolley Run. This list of experiences and positions is only impressive if there is action taken in the roles. I never shy away from being the “squeaky wheel” and will tirelessly serve the residents of Bellaire.
What are some of the issues I am committed to?
The protection and enhancement of our parks and recreational programs.
Ensuring that Bellaire cultivates and welcomes businesses that meet the needs of our residents, while maintaining the city’s charm. I believe we can “level up” in our commercial district. This is what I mean by “Progress with a high bar”
Providing our city services with the resources they need to keep us safe, this includes our excellent police and fire department and our city manager’s team.
Advocating to make the lifestyle of Bellaire accessible to residents of all ages and abilities.
Continuing to make Bellaire a “must move to” city for families.
Supporting Bellaire’s Flood Mitigation Task Force in their efforts and strides towards improving the city’s infrastructure.
The result of the progress of the issues I have mentioned is a dynamic city and community for years to come.
Progress with a high bar.
I am an independent candidate for City Council and will vote and support our residents as such.
Please see my website for upcoming Meet and Greet events where all residents are welcome!
If you want a closer look and to hear more about how I see Bellaire for today’s residents and future residents, please reach out to me! I’d love to meet all my Bellaire neighbors with an in-person gathering, virtual group call or even a one-on-one phone call. I can discuss Bellaire all day long and would be honored to hear about your life here in Bellaire and how I can be a part of keeping you happy and fulfilled in our beautiful city.
