At approximately 12:38 p.m. West U officers were notified of suspicious activity from a vehicle near Duke and Vanderbilt. When officers arrived to the area the suspicious vehicle led officers on a short pursuit into town center. Once the vehicle stopped at University and Auden the passenger fled from the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect who fled the scene led officers on a short foot pursuit down Amherst scaling the fence of the Public Works Administration Building and making his way on top of the ground water storage tank. The suspect eventually surrendered to the officer’s commands and was taken into custody. 

Due to the proximity to the school, church, and city facilities, West U PD requested the surrounding facilities to lockdown at approximately 12:45 p.m. Ultimately the scene was secured and the lockdown was lifted at 12:48 p.m.
