From the Meyerland Community Improvement Association:

We were notified that there has been a heightened number of vehicle break-ins throughout the Meyerland area.

The suspect has been active in and around Meyerland between the hours of 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM. The suspect is a black male in his early 20’s. He uses a flashlight to look into vehicles to see if there are items visible and if the vehicle is unlocked. He enters the unlocked vehicles and takes personal items such as electronics, wallets, etc.

The bike he was riding was confiscated by Precinct 5 early Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, he was not captured after a chase and search in a neighboring community. He will probably be out looking for a new bike.

We highly recommend that you lock your vehicle doors and garage doors. Please remove valuables from your vehicles. Do not leave bags inside your vehicle such as backpacks, purses, gym bags, briefcases, etc.  In the event your vehicle is burglarized do not clean up, do not check to see what is missing, do not touch anything and call Precinct 5 immediately! Precinct 5 would like to gather evidence to capture the suspect. Even if there isn't anything missing your vehicle has been burglarized, it is important you still call to make a report to Precinct 5.
