From the West U Police Department:
On May 3, 2018, 3 men walked into Whole Foods looking for a customer with a purse in the cart. The suspects observed an 81 year old female with her purse in the cart. While two of them distracted her, the third suspect removed her wallet from the purse and placed it in an empty folded Whole Foods bag. The suspects were fast; as it only took 4 minutes from the time they entered the store until they left.
WUPD encourages everyone to not leave your purse/wallet/backpack or any other personal item unattended. You cannot trust everyone you see. There are people waiting to prey on susceptible victims. Keep your personal items on you at all times. The grocery cart is NOT a safe place for your purse or wallet.
If anyone has information or can identify these suspects, please call the West University Place Police Department at 713-668-0330 or e-mail us at crime@westutx.gov. YOU CAN REMAIN ANONYMOUS.
