* Forwarded To: All, Public Release

* Issued By: Officer Salinas – Public Release Edit – Officer Edwards

* Offense Date: July 20, 2020

* Location: 45xx Birch

Details:

On July 20, 2020, at 11:12 am, an off-duty Bellaire Police Officer had stopped near a house under construction in the 4500 block of Birch in his personal vehicle. The officer observed a black four-door Hyundai with paper license plates driving slowly in the area. The officer watched the vehicle drive on Avenue B to Mimosa, then return back to Pine Street. The officer was aware of a vehicle fitting the same description targeting houses under construction and began to follow the vehicle. The officer called the Bellaire Police Department for a marked police unit to stop the black car.

The black car’s driver must have observed a vehicle following them and made several evasive maneuverers before entering 610. The vehicle then accelerated to a high rate of speed and began passing on the shoulder to get away. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. The officer stated the attached pictures are of the same vehicle he observed.
