Im so glad the City Council looked at the facts and were not swayed by the constant negativity over this project! Progress is good for Bellaire and these businesses will “survive” being in a more aesthetically pleasing environment.
I don’t remember who said this last night or the exact words but I totally agree with the statement that we want people to invest in Bellaire but they are more likely to do that if Bellaire invests in Bellaire.
Yes progress costs money, but what better way to improve an area than to do it at the same time as the drainage project? The City is capable of doing more than one thing at a time.
I’m really tired of the negative group that spreads misinformation on anything they don’t like and they don’t like a lot of things! The local paper prints their constant negativity and doesn’t even attempt to verify information or get the other side’s input. I don’t usually read that paper but i discovered how biased it is during the sidewalk debacle. So I have been watching what they do and the bias continued with this project.
The way some of these Bellaire residents talk about the City Manager and Council members is disgusting and they should be ashamed of themselves! How do they not see themselves on video and question their own behavior?
To see a person who calls himself a neighbor (and claims to represent his Bellaire neighbors) speak before Council and turn to the city manager and berate him in an arrogant and condescending tone is very disheartening. I was happy to see Council Woman Fife admonish this terrible behavior!
Dont fall for what the negative people spew. Do your own research and come to your own conclusions.
And they are still complaining about how the city has ignored its citizens again. They seem to forget that they are not the only citizens and a lot of citizens are for this project and want to see improvements in Bellaire! I’m glad we have a forward thinking council.
Spruce St is a disaster! It has no structure. From Rice it starts with what looks like parking places just sitting in the street and then opens up to a giant undefined mess. This will be good for Bellaire and I can't see how this will hurt the businesses there. If anything it should help. The Council has worked with these businesses on parking and delivery concerns and will continue to work with them to ensure the success of the project. Nobody wants the businesses to fail, including council.
Embrace the change. You might just find out you like it!
I love all the updates happening in Bellaire. It's a long time coming!
