How does everyone feel about the city considering tearing down trees over 50 years old for another office building? I'm livid frankly. It's so beautiful there and to have Bellaire stripped of all its old oak trees is heartbreaking. Personally I'd love to do something about it. If you would too, please comment or contact me and let's get together and save Bellaire from becoming downtown.
I think it’s terrible and many more will be lost on the Chevron property if the developer gets his way! (which hopefully won’t happen)Â
There are a lot of trees on that lot. How many would be removed? Surely they wouldn’t remove the ones around the perimeter?Â

It’s sad how many trees have been lost in Bellaire. Many on lots where new houses take up so much lot space a tree is just collateral damage.Â
That is a commercial property so I’m sure they have the right to do whatever they want. And $$$ is more important to them than trees.Â
I don’t think the tree ordinance does much good. However, it could be that the trees that are on the edge of the property are in the public right of way, which it seems according to the ordinance they would not be able to be cut down. I don’t know if they are but let’s hope they are.Â

It seems like filling up lots with houses and buildings is more important than trees. There used to be regulations on reasonable lot coverage but now houses are built almost to the fence line. Lot coverage rules needs to be revisited!
