Before hiring a Roofer

Texas does not require roofers to have a license or any certification, leaving homeowners with little recourse when projects are plagued by poor workmanship. One step homeowners can take is choosing a roofer certified at the highest levels by the manufacturer of the roof shingles such as GAF. The manufacturers will warrant the shingles and other roofing products for any roofer, but they will only warrant workmanship (how the roof is installed) for "master elite" roofers. They are able to offer a 25-year transferable warranty on the shingles AND also their workmanship. The manufacturer even sends out an inspector at no charge, saving the cost of a third-party inspection, and their overall price was actually LOWER than a half-dozen other roofers we interviewed that did not offer the workmanship warranty. You can protect yourself by finding a factory-certified roofer that can warrant their work. Contractors certified by GAF can be found here: https://www.gaf.com/en-us/roofing-contractors/residential. — in Houston, Texas.

This is my opinion and my experience.

We used ideal roofing but many others out there and you know they must install correctly and use certified materials that will not void the warranty.

I only  want to help others not go through what my family did.

Thanks for this great information.  It's also good to get recommendations from others but online references don't always give the best results. If you can find a friend who has use a particular company and had a good experience in addition to recommendations online that really helps too.
