The following is the outcome of the September 24 City Council meeting pertaining to sidewalks. This information is from the City of Bellaire.
The Bellaire City Council continued discussions about sidewalks on September 24 and was asked to consider action regarding the following:
- The scope of the Bonds for a Better Bellaire 2016 Phase 2 Street, Drainage and Sidewalk project
City Council Action:
The Bellaire City Council acted to install 4’ sidewalks on the west side of Bolivar, but not the east side. A sidewalk is not to be installed in the cul-de-sac.
- The scope of the Bonds for a Better Bellaire 2016 Phase 2 Sidewalk project
City Council Action:
The Bellaire City Council acted to install 4’ sidewalks on the following streets:
4800-4900 blocks of Cedar – with a design modification for the cul-de-sac
5000-5200 Locust
S 3rd from Bellaire to Jessamine
4800-4900 Chestnut
5200 Linden
5100 Huisache
Bellaire City Council voted to remove these streets from the project:
4800-4900 Spruce
5200 block of Willow
5200 block of Laurel
Further sidewalk discussions by the Bellaire City Council are scheduled as outlined below:
- October 1 – Bellaire City Council will consider amendments to the current approach for requiring new residential construction to install sidewalks.
- October 1 – Bellaire City Council will consider removing the 4500 block of Teas from the Phase 1 Sidewalk project.
