Adults, do you want to learn more about urban wildlife or native plants? Have you been meaning to plant a garden, but you just aren’t sure where to start? Are you ready to get more comfortable with the bugs in your yard and with insects in general? If so, register to join Staff Naturalist and Education Specialist Starla Lawhon Dyer for the Center’s new Adult Nature Days to pick up the nature knowledge you need to feel confident identifying and caring for wildlife, growing native plants, and more.
Register online below, or just walk in and pay upon arrival on days that are convenient for you.
Fall 2024 Schedule: Sundays from 8 – 10 am OR 3 – 5 pm
August 25 – Big Scales & Mimosas
Learn all about reptiles and amphibians then learn the basics of identifying them over mimosas.
September 1 – Feather Fluffing
Taking flight to understand bird biology and basic behavior.
September 8 – Momma Mammals! Here we go again!
Texas is home to many different species of mammals. In this class you will learn about various mammals you can view in Texas and how to protect them.
September 15 – Native Plant ID
Grab your magnifying glasses, let’s learn to spot native plants!
September 22 – Oh good, it is just a bug!
Take a dive into bugs! Learn basic bug ID and what makes an insect an insect.
September 29 – Native Gardening
Planting native brings all the cool critters to your yard!
October 6 – Nature Paints
Paint! This class will bring out the inter artist, as we paint a native Texas landscape using watercolor.
October 13 – Urban Wildlife
Urban wildlife is not an urban legend. This class will provide an understanding of urban wildlife so we can better protect them.
Ages: Adults ages 21+
Cost: Member $15; Non-member $25
Advance registration requested and preferred, but willing to take walk-ins (space permitting).
