From the City of Bellaire:

We want to thank you for taking the time to prepare for Hurricane Laura.  Your preparation is an integral part of helping everyone in Bellaire during weather events.  We realize we were fortunate in Bellaire, and our hearts go out to our neighbors to the East as they recover from this major storm.

All non-essential City services will remain closed today as staff recovers from our disaster response protocols that were activated yesterday and overnight in preparation for the storm. Regular operations of all city services will resume on Friday.

City services to resume on Friday include:
Solid Waste & Recycling Collection (No Solid Waste & Recycling Collection on Thursday)
City Hall Customer Service Lobby
City of Bellaire Pool Operations
Camp Paseo
Library Curbside Pickup
Police and Municipal Court Customer Service Windows

Police and Fire personnel remain on duty 24/7 for emergency needs.

Thank you, and have a great day.

From the City of West University:

Fortunately, West U and the Houston area were spared any significant issues resulting from Hurricane Laura.  Our hearts and prayers go out those communities in east Texas and Louisiana who were not as fortunate as us as they recover from this major hurricane.

Regarding City services in West U:

  • Trash will be collected on Monday
  • Yard waste/recycling will be collected next Thursday
  • City staff that sheltered in-place last night will be working this morning to prepare facilities for a Friday reopening (tables, chairs and equipment at recreational facilities and fences in the parks)

We apologize for any inconvenience today as we prepare facilities for reopening on Friday.

Lastly, please take a minute to assess your family’s preparedness for a major storm event.  As we all know, living in the Gulf Coast is not matter of “IF” but a matter of “WHEN” it will happen.  Below is a screen shot taken last night of Hurricane Laura and how close we came to having a direct hit on Houston.
