Canadian Artist and longtime Houston resident, Karen Landrigan received some very good news. Two of her paintings, ‘Open’ and ‘Living’ have been selected for the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) 2020 Elected Members’ Juried Exhibition.
The Society of Canadian Artists is committed to strengthening its national presence in Canada by promoting excellence in traditional forms of artistic expression, and by encouraging acceptance and growth of contemporary and experimental forms of visual art.
The exhibition features approximately one hundred individual paintings from a very select group of artists. The successful paintings were selected by jury and to have two pieces in this online exhibition is a significant accomplishment.
Landrigan is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists. She was admitted by jury in 2016.
“I guess I’m not a flash in the pan”, Landrigan said with a smile. “It is such a good feeling to be recognized. I am very grateful and it shows that I have a strong body of work.”
Landrigan’s painting “Living” was inspired by the death of a lifelong friend.
“I think Graham is still competing”, Landrigan said, “I am sure he is challenging all his friends in the clouds. He was an Olympic swimmer and a gold medal friend.”
Landrigan was born in Newfoundland Canada and has lived in Houston, Texas for twenty five years.
“I love Houston”, Landrigan said, “Like most ex-pats I love the warmth of Texas. Both the temperature and the people.”
