PROCLAMATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS
A Badge Pinning Ceremony was held for Firefighter/Paramedics James White, John Taylor and Hunter Haynes with the Bellaire Fire Department.
REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
The Monthly Financial Report for July 2019 was presented by Chief Financial Officer Terrence Beaman.
REGULAR SESSION ACTION ITEMS
Approved a request by the Bellaire Business Association for an alcohol waiver in Bellaire Zindler Park for the Foodie Fest Event on October 19, 2019.
Took a record vote of 6-0 (Council Member McLaughlan absent) to adopt a budget for FY 2020 that will require a tax rate of $0.4473. That tax rate is a 2.36% increase over the effective tax rate.
Authorized the issuance of two General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2019A and 2019B, in an amount not to exceed $10,000,000 each with an estimated annual debt service savings of $159,000.
Amended Chapter 13, Fire Protection and Prevention, Article III, Fire Department Volunteer Force, to update the structure, duties, and responsibilities of the City of Bellaire Fire Department Volunteers.
Nominated Mike Sullivan for a position on the Board of Directors of the Harris County Appraisal District for a two-year term of office commencing on January 1, 2020 and extending through December 31, 2021.
Approved a request from the Bellaire Police Department and the Bellaire Fire Department to make grant applications to the Bellaire Police and Fire Foundation for 2019 funding for drones, a high-water vehicle, and an individual security device for the Police Department, and a cancer initiative program, body cameras, dry suits and a weather station for the Fire Department.
