City Council Meeting Overview November 6, 2018

November 11 – 17 as Perioperative Nurses Week in the City of Bellaire
November 5 as the start of the Stay Loyal to Local Campaign by the Bellaire Business Association

PUBLIC HEARING AND CONSIDERATION OF USE OF PROPERTY AT 4800 FOURNACE

City Council held a public hearing on applications for two Specific Use Permits to allow for multi-tenant office use in the buildings previously occupied by Chevron, U.S.A. and for the construction of an adjacent parking garage. Council approved both applications.

REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

An update for the Municipal Facilities Project was presented that included the remaining project schedule, project budget, milestones, and public messaging. The new City Hall will be open to the public Tuesday, November 13 at 1:00 pm.

REGULAR SESSION ACTION ITEMS

Approved a one-year contract for professional City engineer services with AARK Engineers, LLC.

Approved replacement of requirement that sidewalks not be removed by property owner without a permit.

Denied a Specific Use Permit to allow for the operation of a car wash to be located at 5235 Bellaire Boulevard.

Approved a request by Evelyn’s Park to allow mixed drink beverages to be served at two upcoming private events in the Event Center.

Approved an ordinance making it unlawful for a vehicle to create a wake large enough to damage private property while driving/traversing down a flooded street.
