From the City of Bellaire:
City Council accepted the annual audit and comprehensive financial report ACFR for the fiscal year 2024. The report showed no findings and issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the basic financial statements, which is the highest level of assurance that can be given on a set of financial statements.
The Bellaire Police and Fire Foundation donated thermal imagers, a forcible entry training door, and a drone, valued at $85,760, to enhance the operations of our Bellaire Police and Fire Departments.
The “No Turn on Red” at the Newcastle and Bellaire Blvd. intersection has been removed from Section 30-55 of the Code of Ordinances, and staff installed “Turning Vehicles Yield to Pedestrian” signs at the intersection.
Text amendments to Chapter 24 (Planning and Zoning) of the Code of Ordinances were discussed, and input was received from the Council. The item will be brought back to them for completion at a later date, as early as April 21.
- Sign Regulations were no longer part of the agenda and can be taken up at a later date if the Council wishes to.
- If/when taken up at a later date, staff recommends no longer imposing a limit on stake signs in residential yards since that has been a point of concern.
- At the meeting, it was also clarified that the discussion regarding the Sign Regulations never involved changing any laws related to political signs.
