Bellaire Police Chief, Onesimo Lopez, explains what happened last Thursday when a shot was fired on Mimosa Street.
“On Thursday, March 31, 2022, at approximately 1:00 pm a known suspect met with a group of Bellaire High School students in the 5100 block of Mimosa. The suspect had allegedly arranged to make a drug transaction with the students and they had agreed to meet at the location in their respective vehicles. Upon arriving for the sale the suspect displayed a handgun to the students in an apparent attempt to intimidate the group. As he did so the gun discharged one time, striking the rear window of the students’ vehicle. An acquaintance of the suspect that was in the students’ car left with the suspect as he fled the scene.
The suspect and acquaintance were located near the suspect’s mother’s residence in southern Harris County at approximately 2:40 PM. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect, Adrian Alemán (17 yoa) was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a Second Degree Felony. Bond was set at $60,000. As of Monday afternoon the suspect was still in custody at the Harris County Jail.
No injuries were reported in the incident.”
