At the March 21 Bellaire City Council Meeting, Council voted to approve three planned development applications presented by SLS West Loop, LP after making multiple amendments to the applications.

One of the major concerns of the proposed applications, by citizens and Council, was the size of the proposed development and the traffic impacts on the surrounding streets. Mayor Friedberg express early on in the process that the scope was too big and should be constrained until it was determined what impact it would have on the adjoining neighborhoods. To achieve this Council amended the applications to limit the total square footage to 70% of its concept without further Council approval.

Planned Developments 1 and 3 were approved unanimously with the amendments Council added in previous meetings. Council Member Catherine Lewis spoke out against Planned Development 2 due to its size, stating that it was the size of one of the Gallerias and 2 times the size of Rice Village Shopping Center. PD 2 passed by a vote of 5-2 with Lewis and Hotze voting against it.
