Bellaire Police are searching for the owner of a dog that bit an 11 year old boy with Asperger’s Syndrome on Monday, May 8.  The dog’s owner left the scene without providing information on the dog or the dog’s vaccination history.  This information is needed or the child will have to undergo treatment for potential exposure to Rabies.

On Monday May 8 between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM the 11 year old boy was playing near the Officer Lucy Dog Park located at 4337 Lafayette Street in Bellaire.  The boy rode his bicycle west on Lafayette St. when he observed an unknown female walking on Lafayette St. towards the dog park with 2 dogs on leashes.  In the area of the soccer field the boy stopped to ask the female about her dogs.  At that time one of the dogs broke away from the owner and attacked the boy.  The dog knocked the boy to the ground and then bit the boy on the right leg.  The dog is described as an unknown large white dog with brown patches and large jowls.

The dog’s owner then asked the boy if he was okay before she left in unknown direction.  A 14 year old girl who was in the park advised that she saw a female park an unknown type of car in the parking lot.  The female took 2 dogs out of the car and put them on leashes before walking down Lafayette St. towards the dog park.  The witness said that she saw the dog attack the boy and then the dog ran away.  She said the dog’s owner ran after the dog in what appeared to be an attempt to catch the animal.

The girl described the dog’s owner as a white female about 5’7″, thin, and with dark hair that was in a ponytail.  She said the dog’s owner was wearing a maroon scrub type top and light blue shorts.

Bellaire Police are asking anybody with information on this dog owner to call us immediately at 713-668-0487.  If you are the owner of this dog you are also asked to call immediately.  Please help us resolve this issue and prevent this child from potential Rabies treatment.
