Bellaire has a new Police Chief.

Bellaire’s new Police Chief, Onesimo Lopez Jr., was sworn into office August 2, 2021. Chief Lopez takes over for retiring Chief Byron Holloway who served Bellaire for 45 years.

Chief Lopez served as Assistant Chief in Bellaire since January 2019. He worked with the Pearland Police Department for 24 years. The City of Bellaire stated that “his wealth of experience brings a deep understanding of police organization management and leadership, and he believes in ongoing community engagement.”
