Meet Aaron Perry

I’m Aaron Perry, a husband, father, Bellaire Little League coach and proud resident of Bellaire of 10 years. I attended the University of Houston for my undergraduate degree. I followed that by obtaining my law degree from South Texas College of Law. I am a former felony Texas prosecutor and currently the founder of the Perry Law Firm in Bellaire, Texas. As a former felony prosecutor for the State of Texas, I successfully prosecuted the most serious felony cases. I never lost a jury trial as a felony prosecutor. I have worked with almost every major law enforcement agency, both state and federal. I value public safety and community.

Aaron Perry for Bellaire Mayor

My wife, Tracy, is a dermatologist who attended Bellaire High School. We have two boys who are active in Bellaire youth sports, Jack and Brooks, ages 10 and 12. I have volunteered with Bellaire Little League, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Houston Food Bank and other philanthropic organizations. I am committed to Bellaire and keeping our community safe.

This election is about our community and our future. I am motivated to run because our city calls for someone with leadership skills to step up and guide us into the future. We must address:

-Crime/Public Safety
-Drainage
-Fiscal transparency and responsibility
-Preserving our Parks
-Upgrading our infrastructure

Crime and public safety should never be compromised. If you cannot contain crime, homelessness or public safety in your city, you have no city. Look nationally at what is happening and the increased crime spike in neighboring Houston. We should not minimize property crimes and heed the warnings of what is to come. Our children’s future and the integrity of our city depend on us to act now. Our incredible police and fire departments need support and funding to secure our city and keep us safe. Is there anything more important than safety and family? We all know the answer. How amazing is it to know we live in a city with such a quick response time from our first responders! High retention and competitive benefits for our first responders in Bellaire must be prioritized and advocated for. I am also in favor of relocating the METRO transit center outside of our commercial area in Bellaire. I believe Bellaire citizens overwhelmingly agree with this position. Please see my website for more of my proposals on crime. https://aaronforbellaire.com

Improving our drainage systems is very important now and for the future of our city. Hurricane Harvey affected nearly all of our Bellaire residents and caused so much damage to our city.  Our citizens are reminded all too much, even in mild rains, about the worrisome accumulation of water in our streets. We have unresolved drainage concerns. We need to work tirelessly to procure more outside funding from both state and federal officials to help resolve our drainage issues. I will advocate on our behalf for outside funding to improve our drainage systems. Flood mitigation projects/ infrastructure improvements should be a top priority. Working with Harris County Flood Control to develop and implement regional solutions to flooding is crucial for our future.

Preserving our parks to be clean and green, upgrading our infrastructure and maintaining fiscal transparency must all be done while maintaining lower taxes for our residents. Bellaire is the city of homes and maintains its beauty and appeal for being family friendly and community oriented. We are a community that loves our neighbors, our tremendous Little League and our beautiful parks. We must never lose these qualities while investing in continued growth for our city, but never at the expense of losing our identity and character. No projects should be forced on our residents without widespread approval and agreement. Proposed projects must enhance our city and the lives of our residents, while always following our city’s comprehensive plan.

Our commercial area on South Rice needs to be developed more to enhance its beauty with more green space and to make it more walkable. Commercial plans to enhance our city with more restaurants and retail are necessary for growth, increased city revenue and neighborhood charm. Let’s explore more plans to grow and flourish without sacrificing the integrity of Bellaire and its character. Relocating the METRO transit center from our commercial area would only enhance the area with less traffic and crime, while making the area more walkable and enjoyable for our residents. I am an advocate of tree preservation and beautification. Just drive down Braeburn and see the natural beauty of the trees. Let’s beautify our city and our commercial area with more trees and less concrete that will accompany our business growth and development.

Fiscal responsibility is always imperative, and we must capitalize on our relationships with Bellaire leaders and business partners to always do what is financially responsible for the city. We must maximize these business relationships and always do what is in the best interest for our Bellaire residents. We must head into the direction and leadership of reducing/eliminating our growing debt. We must explore more outside funding and grants for Bellaire drainage, aging infrastructure and safety projects. We must keep our reserve levels healthy for financial stability and to protect our bond rating. Less debt and more community engagement of our citizens should be a top priority. Bellaire citizens should always be heard. I vow to always give you a voice and listen to you, should you elect me your mayor. I won’t let you down!
